How is KanbanGenie different to other "productivity" platforms?

Simplicity, and a focus on individuals productivity. The majority of productivity platforms focus on teams or organisations or those who do cater for individuals, have become overly convoluted and complex. I don't believe this is a failure of the systems (such as kanban), but a failure of the software companies to think about user experience ahead of features. This is where KanbanGenie is different, the user interface, user experience and simplicity are a focus point for me.

Can I not just use a calendar?

While a calendar has been well tried and tested. It routinely fails on several points. On the initial setup, it appears great. You add when you will do your tasks (timeblocks), maybe add some birthdays, and a few reoccuring tasks such as weekly food shopping or putting the bins out. Then you think no more about it.

3 months go by, and your siblings birthday is today! You forgot to get a card. That task you were supposed to do 3 weeks ago slipped by since you forgot to check and didn't realise you had to reschedule. Oh, and did you add in your car insurance renewal?

With KanbanGenie, these are not problems. Every due date is instantly viewable on a single page, tasks can automatically generate and you don't complete them, you won't have to look back through days/weeks/months of a calendar. The task(s) will still be sitting on a specific boards column waiting for you to action it.

Can I not just use a to do list?

Yeah, you could. They are brilliant for a few tasks. Liek a food shopping list. But trying to manage a larger to do list, well, good luck.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet, but that will be coming later this year 2024. It will have offline functionality and, I am considering building it without requiring an internet connection at all (and no account requirement). However, if you wish to sync your tasks between devices and back them up to the cloud you will need an account. But I'm hoping the choice will be yours (depending on how difficult the technical side will be to achieve this).

What does Kanban mean?

It was developed by a Japanese company to help provide engineering components just in time i.e. not requiring huge stock piles of parts.

It doesn't look like KanbanGenie can do much?

If I am applying one of my design principles correctly, "simplicity". Then the UI should always look like it doesn't do much! This is by design, yet it may be deceiving. While in the beginning there will not be many features developed. Over time, I will be hiding features in menus, allowing users to enable/disable features to help focus the user interface, and so on...

Why is there not much of a community?

I don't have much to show yet, but, it will grow.
